The Web-Telemetry (wireless embedded baseboard for telemetry) supports several cellular modems and GPS receivers, and the board includes a wide voltage-range power supply that can run a PC/104 processor board. MontaVista will offer royalty-based licensing, and expects to derive half its revenues that way, according to an article at CNET. The article also discusses recent and pending updates to MontaVista's product line. MontaVista is the largest embedded Linux provider, CNET says, accounting for half of embedded Linux revenues. Renesas will ship a processor for mid-range multimedia mobile phones this month. The SH-MobileJ3 is based on a 32-bit, 133MHz SH3/DSP core, and includes dual camera interfaces and several multimedia accelerators. Aplix Corporation will integrate several 2D and 3D graphics standard implementations from Hybrid Graphics into its Java platform for mobile phones and devices. Fujitsu Microelectronics America (FMA) is shipping an SoC (system-on-chip) targeting WiMAX broadband wireless access (BWA) equipment for metropolitan area networks (MANs). The MB87M3400 targets base stations and subscriber access equipment, and can be used in equipment carrying up to 75Mbps of data, Fujitsu claims. (more…)
