Palm Foleo bundles remote PC access ware

Palm today announced that when it ships later “this summer,” the Foleo mobile companion will come equipped with remote PC access software from LogMeIn. The software will enable users to quickly and securely access files and network resources on their home or work computers, Palm said. (more…)

Access rev’s Linux tools, gains partners

Access is sampling a new version of its Linux distribution and development tools said to support “the latest ABI” (application binary interface) for ARM, thanks to integration with CodeSourcery's G++ toolchain. Nokia Siemens joins the Linux Foundation

One of the world's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs) has joined the Linux Foundation (LF), with an eye toward helping improve Carrier Grade Linux (CGL). Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) said it plans to contribute financial and technical resources aimed at “further integration” of CGL with the Linux Standards Base (LSB). (more…)

Wyse adds SUSE Linux to its thin clients

Symbian senior VP defects to mobile Linux

The LiMo (Linux Mobile) Foundation, an industry group building a common software stack for Linux-based mobile phones, today announced a dozen new members. SDK aims Playstation3 clusters at HPC apps

Linux supercomputer firm snags $10M funding

SiCortex, claiming to be the first company to engineer a Linux cluster from the silicon up, has secured $10 million in venture capital. The funds have arrived as the company “launches its super energy efficient high performance Linux cluster computers,” SiCortex said. (more…)

Linux to power Google GPhone?

Google's first mobile phone will run a Linux operating system on a Texas Instruments “Edge” chipset, and will likely ship to T-Mobile and Orange customers in the Spring of 2008, according to unconfirmed reports. “GPhone” call minutes and text messages reportedly will be funded by mobile advertising. Linux gains free telecom-oriented IPC stack

A year later than expected, Enea has released an open source Linux version of its flagship IPC (interprocess communication) stack. The GPL/BSD-licensed Linx stack could allow for tighter control- and data-plane integration in mobile phones and telecom infrastructure equipment combining Linux with Enea's OSE/OSEck RTOS (real-time operating system). Bluetooth to gain “audiophile-quality” sound
