Congatec has announced a computer-on-module (COM) that features Intel's new Atom processor and uses the COM Express form-factor. VersaLogic has announced new RoHS-compliant versions of three of its single-board computers (SBC). The PC-104/Plus-based Cheetah and Lynx, along with the EBX-based Cobra, run Linux, targeting long-life embedded applications in medicine, avionics, or security, according to the company.
Network equipment provider (NEP) Performance Technologies (PT) announced the first of a line of Linux-based MicroTCA-based network appliances. The 1U MTC5070's chassis integrates commodity PC power supplies and shelf management functions, leaving six AMC slots free for user configuration.

The Mozilla Foundation says the mobile version of Firefox, planned for release later this year, has been sped up nearly 600 percent in its latest builds. The evolving product, which will run on Linux-based devices, has also received several interesting new user interface (UI) proposals.

New details have emerged about Lippert's CoreExpress module, which the German firm claims to be the first board based on the Intel Centrino Atom. The 2.6 by 2.3-inch CoreExpress-ECO board comes in 1.1GHz and 1.6GHz versions, consuming only five Watts in the latter configuration, says Lippert.
