M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd., a leader in flash based local storage solutions for the Internet appliance and embedded markets, announced today the extension of its DiskOnChip 2000 flash disk product line with new capacities now up to 288MB. DiskOnChip 2000 is a family of modular solutions in standard 32-pin dual inline packages (DIP). With its TrueFFS technology, small size and solid-state operation, DiskOnChip provides a local storage solution for Internet appliances, embedded systems, harsh environment applications or any application where low power and data reliability are critical or using a hard disk is not practical.

According to the company, DiskOnChip shipments have been increasing significantly this year. Last quarter 120,000 DiskOnChip units shipped, more than three times the quantity shipped in the corresponding period in 1998. “DiskOnChip's momentum is absolutely outstanding,” said Chuck Schouw, president and CEO, M-Systems Inc. “OEMs are realizing the high reliability, long lifecycle time and infinite capabilities possible with DiskOnChip, the smallest flash-based local storage solution in the market. In addition, as DiskOnChip's capacity increases, we see more and more telecommunications and networking applications opting to use DiskOnChip to reduce maintenance cost.”
