Renesas has introduced a new SuperH embedded processor that supports Linux and is optimized for VoIP (voice over IP) applications. The SH7710 dual-core RISC/DSP chip can process VoIP with enough overhead to simultaneously run a firewall and security algorithms, according to Renesas. (more…)

The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA, formerly the Digital Home Working Group), has released its Home Networked Device Interoperability Guidelines v1.0. Embedded Linux device makers wishing to license Macromedia's Flash player for use in low-volume devices can now do so, thanks to an agreement between Macromedia and embedded engineering services provider Vibren Technologies.
