Embedded Linux implementation targets custom SoCs
Mar 26, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsLynuxWorks will demonstrate a version of its BlueCat Linux running on LSI Logic's RapidChip “Platform ASIC” at the Embedded Systems Conference next week in San Francisco. The combination targets communications equipment makers developing custom system-on-chips (SoCs) based on ARM processors running Linux in conjunction with LSI's off-the-shelf cores.
RapidChip supports LSI intellectual property including link and protocol cores, memory controllers, and bus interfaces, and is supported by Virtio emulators for rapid development, according to LynuxWorks. LSI representatives will speak on the topic, “Accelerating custom SoC design with RapidChip Platform ASIC and System CoreWare.”
LynuxWorks will also demonstrate Gigabit IPSec and high performance SSL using BlueCat Linux, OpenSSL, and FreeS/WAN on Cavium's NITROX security processors.
Additional demonstrations will include:
- BlueCat Linux case studies
- IBM presentation on its PowerPC 440EP, 750GX, and 970FX
- Communications equipment design
- Embedded security
