A German embedded Linux OS supplier has announced a joint marketing agreement with a French embedded Linux services provider. The agreement is between Sysgo, the Klein-Winternheim, Germany based vendor of the ELinOS Linux distribution and PikeOS real-time add-on, and Systerel, a real-time application development service provider in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Sysgo is a long-time supplier of the ELinOS embedded Linux distribution to industrial markets. A couple of years back, it shipped PikeOS, a para-virtualizing real-time add-on aimed at safety critical and military/aerospace markets. Then, last month, Sysgo appointed a new CEO charged with driving an “aggressive global business expansion plan” focused on safety critical and military markets.

Systerel, based in Aix-en-Provence, France, develops real-time applications for safety- and security-critical real time systems. After establishing a customer base in the railway sector, it, too, has recently branched into aerospace and other safety critical industrial applications.

Systerel CEO Francois Bustany stated, “This partnership strengthens our position in our long time market segments like transportation and nuclear, and our strategy to expand to other segments like avionics, space, and defense.”
