Sysgo is offering a live online demo of its embedded Linux distributions and tools. The European embedded software vendor's “Live Experience Server” lets registrants use VNC (virtual network computer) to connect to a development host running ELinOS or ELinOS Real-Time, and pre-configured with… target hardware.

Sysgo's ELinOS and ELinOS Real-time Linux distributions target embedded, industrial, and military/aerospace applications. They feature a graphical “ELK” (embedded Linux Konfigurator) tool, graphical Eclipse-based “Codeo” IDE, and “Cognito” analysis tools. They are optionally available with PikeOS, a proprietary RTOS (real-time OS) add-on capable of running Linux and other binaries in separate, secure, virtual hardware partitions.

Sysgo also offers more traditional time-limited trial downloads, as well as a free command-line only version of its Linux distro and tools. However, the live demo saves potential customers the hassle of installing software and configuring target hardware, it says. The online demo also facilitates team evaluations, because multiple users can access the demo concurrently, even from geographically distributed locations.

Additionally, the Live Experience Server is available for training sessions, in which geographically distributed development teams are guided by a Sysgo professional, using VNC, VoIP, and teleconferencing, the company says.

According to Johannes Froehling, sales director, “Evaluation is a cornerstone in the decision-making process. Potential customers now have the opportunity to assess our products without any hassle. We can even give them a guided online demonstration where they can directly interact with a peer engineer to raise questions or ask for additional information.”

Sysgo's Live Experience Server is online now. Prospective demo-takers must register with Sysgo, after which they are issued a password granting access for a specific day.
