Jun 18, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsSunnyvale, CA — (press release excerpt) — Filanet Corporation announced the availability of a software development kit (SDK) for the company's InterJak family of Internet service appliances. Filanet's SDK allows developers and OEM partners to create and customize services and solutions to enhance the networking environments of small and remote offices. Filanet's InterJak platform is an embedded system based on the Linux operating system. The InterJak SDK provides the appropriate tools, API's, source code, and documentation to enable porting third-party applications, device drivers, and web pages customized to the InterJak.
The InterJak Internet service appliance securely delivers value-added services to remote small offices. In addition to WAN access (e.g. SDSL, ADSL, ISDN, V.90) and standard LAN functions such as file and printer sharing, small businesses are also able to take advantage of services such as VPN, content filtering, network monitoring, and bandwidth shaping. With the InterJak SDK, developers and OEM partners can develop branded services that suit their customer's specific needs and complement the rich feature set currently available on the InterJak platform.
“We recognized early on in the development of the InterJak the boundless opportunity to deliver a wide variety of services on the platform,” says Avner Ben-Dor, Filanet's founder and CEO. “With that in mind, we decided to bundle the appropriate tools to enable the developer community and our OEM partners to create and customize services their customers demand.”
The InterJak SDK can be used for various purposes, including developing and porting services, modifying existing web based management interfaces and applications on the InterJak, developing custom applications for niche market solutions, and adding or modifying device drivers.
The InterJak SDK consists of the tools, API's, source code, documentation, and target hardware necessary to port and test software on the InterJak. The InterJak SDK is available now for $795 and can be purchased at the Filanet website.
