Devicescape has updated its WiFi hotspot auto-login tool, and is encouraging all users to upgrade before Friday, Mar. 2, when the old version expires. Along with a new authentication protocol, Devicescape Agent 1.0.21 adds support for Nokia's Linux-based N800 Internet Tablet.

Devicescape says its Agent now supports WISPr (Wireless Internet Service ProvideR), a new login protocol standardized by a subcommittee of the Wi-Fi Alliance aimed at enabling faster logins and roaming support. Some networks supported by the Agent — including AT&T WiFi, FON, and T-Mobile — will switch to WISPr logins as of Friday, Mar. 2, according to the Devicescape. Therefore, users are encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible, to ensure continuous service.

Along with support for WISPr, the new Agent adds enhanced usability and stability, and support for more WiFi networks, Devicescape says. More details about the Devicescape Agent can be found in our extensive earlier coverage, here.

Availability

Devicescape Agent 1.0.21 is available now for download, here. In addition to Nokia's N800, the Agent is available for Windows XP SP2, Windows Mobile 5, Linksys WIP300, and the Nokia 770.
