Transduction announced a “server class” industrial PC with up to two Intel Xeon processors and provision for four hard disk drives. The TR-Maxim-JF is equipped with a “telecom-grade” micro-ATX motherboard, supports up to 48GB DDR3 memory, offers PCIe and PCI expansion, and includes gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, and serial connectivity, says the company.

The TR-Maxim-JF is equipped with a "telecom grade" micro-ATX motherboard with a socket for one or two single- dual- or quad-core members from Intel's "Jasper Forest" Xeon processor line, says Mississauga, Ontario-based Transduction. Offered with seven-year lifecycle support, the CPUs range from the single-core, 23-Watt C3518 on up to the quad-core, 85-Watt C5549, some models employing the "Turbo Boost" technology whereby clock speed can be bumped up temporarily in response to workload.

The TR-Maxim-JF supports up to 48GB parity ECC DDR3 memory, says Transduction. The device is equipped with dual 3.5-inch removable disk canisters supporting SATA 2 hard disk drives (HDDs) with RAID 0/1 support, and also has room for two 2.5-inch disk drives internally, according to the company.

Dual PCI Express (PCIe) slots and a PCI slot are available for expansion, says the company. The TR-Maxim-JF provides dual gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, and two serial ports, while an available PCI card can provide up to four additional RS232, RS422, and RS485 ports, says Transduction. Audio and PS/2 ports are also said to be available.

The TR-Maxim-JF is said to be powered by a 550 Watt dual hot-swap power supply that provides redundant power. The PC can withstand temperatures ranging from 32 to 122 deg. F (0 to 50 deg. C), and offers two fans with an adaptive air fan temperature controller, says the company. A front filter is said to protect the internal heat sink fins from clogging up with dust, while maintaining optimal air flow inside the computer.

Software support is offered for Linux and QNX (both with various options available), as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista. Like the Xeons it runs on, the TR-Maxim-JF is claimed to be a high-longevity product.
