Intel touts embedded road show
Aug 22, 2006 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsIntel will host one-day embedded computing conferences at a dozen locations around the U.S. this fall. The Intel Embedded Solutions Conferences will present information about Intel's current and forthcoming embedded processors, as well as its extended life-cycle support program, research, and product roadmaps.
In addition to product information on Intel's embedded processors, the Conferences will feature:
- Information on Intel's “reusable hardware and software building blocks, validated reference designs, and tools”
- Technical demonstrations by members of an Intel third-party developer network
- Information about Intel's extended life-cycle support
- Presentations on standards-based interoperability
- Intel's research and product roadmaps
Intel-listed dates and times for the events are as follows:
- Minneapolis, MN – 9/12/2006
- Chicago, IL – 9/14/2006
- Cleveland, OH – 9/19/2006
- Iselin, NJ – 9/21/2006
- Montreal, QC – 9/26/2006
- Rochester, NY – 9/28/2006
- Baltimore, MD – 10/10/2006
- Boston, MA – 10/18/2006
- Indialantic, FL – 10/24/2006
- Atlanta, GA – 10/26/2006
- Dallas, TX – 11/02/2006
- Orange County, CA – 11/07/2006
Intel's embedded processor line includes chips based on the x86 “Intel Architecture” (IA), such as its ULV (ultra-low-voltage) Celeron/Pentium M processors. The line also includes three ARM-based “XScale” processor families respectively targeting networking, storage, and mobile devices.
Intel last month announced plans sell off its XScale chips for mobile devices, along with its baseband processors for 3G mobile phones. However, that deal is not expected to clear regulatory approval until late in the year.
Additional details about the Conferences can be found at a dedicated event website, here. The events appear to be free, but require the execution of some type of NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
