Lineo names Engineering and Services execs

Kim D. Clark, most recently from Novell, was named Vice President of Engineering. Allan Smart, was promoted within Lineo to Vice President of the new Professional Services division. Paul Cameron comes from CyberSafe and ELF Technologies to be the Director of Engineering at Lineo's new development center in Seattle, Washington.

About Kim D. Clark
As Vice President of Engineering, Clark is accountable for overseeing Lineo's world-wide engineering staff and directing the company's technology development. During his 12 years working at Novell, Clark worked on a number of key projects. Most recently, he was the director of engineering in charge of NetWare OS product development. Clark oversaw the development and release of Novell's award-winning NetWare operating systems, 4.x and NetWare 5.x, representing close to $1 billion in Novell's annual revenues. Additionally, he was responsible for the Novell Cluster Services product. Clark's extensive background in operating system technology will be key in Lineo's development of Embedix, Lineo's line of embedded Linux system software.
About Allan Smart
In his new role, Smart is accountable for the launch of Lineo Professional Services, a new department designed to provide technical sales support, consulting and custom engineering services to OEMs of embedded devices. The Professional Services department will include employees at Lineo's corporate headquarters in Utah and at satellite offices located throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, providing OEMs with local language, face-to-face service and support.
Smart and his group are accountable for providing OEMs with an understanding of how embedded Linux can be implemented in embedded devices and assist OEMs as they incorporate solutions based on Embedix, in devices ranging from cell phones and thermostats to industrial controls and deeply embedded devices.
About Paul Cameron
As Director of Engineering for Lineo, Cameron will establish the new Lineo development and engineering office in Seattle, Washington which opened earlier this month. Specifically, Cameron and his engineering group are responsible for the development of Embedix PDA, a Windows CE compatible embedded Linux software solution. Embedix PDA will provide a Windows CE compatible layer on top of Lineo Embedix Linux, allowing Windows CE applications to be easily ported to Lineo Embedix Linux. This product is scheduled for release in Q1 2001.
