Lineo opens “embedded systems center” in Silicon Valley
Apr 10, 2001 — by Rick Lehrbaum — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsSan Francisco; Embedded Systems Conference — (press release excerpt) — Lineo Inc. announced today that it has opened an office in Silicon Valley to become the new Lineo Embedded Systems Center (LESC) focused on sales, marketing, and services functions under the direction of Richard Larsen, senior vice president of sales, marketing and services, Lineo Inc.
The new office is located at 1500 Fashion Island Boulevard in San Mateo and will be the strategic center of Lineo's worldwide sales, marketing and service functions. Lineo embedded systems engineering and partnering labs also will be based in the LESC. By the end of the year, more than 50 sales, marketing, engineering and customer support staff will be working from the LESC.
Since May 2000, Lineo has acquired, or announced intent to acquire, eight key companies in the areas of embedded software, real-time operating systems, high availability solutions and digital television. The company's products can be found in technology such as set-top boxes, cell phones, PDAs, cash registers, credit card readers and Internet appliances. In addition to the LESC, Lineo currently has 15 offices in nine countries including three engineering development centers.
