K Computing will present a course on “Linux Device Driver Development” in San Jose, Calif. from Jan. 19-23, 2004. The course will cover how device drivers work with the Linux kernel, how to compile and load drivers, driver debugging, PCI/ISA hardware access, and more, with both 2.4- and 2.6-series kernels.

According to K Computing president Kevin Dankwardt, the course covers key issues such as:

• how do I develop a character device?
• how do I debug a driver?
• how do I use task queues?

Dankwardt says attendees can expect to spend approximately 50 percent of class time actually gaining hands-on experience with these topics, and after four days will have developed a complete, simple device driver.

Dr. Kevin Dankwardt, a well known leader in the embedded Linux community and a LinuxDevices.com contributing editor, will lead the course.
