Zi Corp. will offer its text input software “pre-integrated” with Access's embedded Linux stack for phones and other mobile devices. Access appears to have licensed Zi's eZiText predictive text input software and Decuma handwriting recognition software packages for Access stack, currently codenamed “ALP” (Access… Linux Platform).

According to Zi, eZiText and Decuma help users draft and send text messages quickly. eZiText offers word completion and text prediction — along with automatic correction — for devices with key-driven text input. Decuma combines handwriting recognition software with word completion / text prediction (for alphabetic languages).

Availability

Zi did not disclose availability details. The Access Linux Platform is expected to reach general availability by mid-2007, but is already sampling to select customers, Access recently told LinuxDevices.
