Linux powers dash-mounted DAQ device

A Linux-based, dashboard-mounted data acquisition (DAQ) device was named “Best New International Product” at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) tradeshow this week in Las Vegas. Drew Tech's “DashDAQ” interfaces via ODB2, displaying a rich variety of engine diagnostics information.

The DashDAQ will ship in Q1, 2007, with a standard set of virtual guages, and diagnostic and troubleshooting applications. It will also be available as an open platform for third party application developers wishing to implement all kinds of in-car computers capable of interfacing directly with the sensor buses found in today's computerized cars.
