Rugged, fanless industrial PC features three video ports
Nov 11, 2011 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 6 viewsAaeon announced a rugged, fanless industrial controller with an Intel QM57 chipset and 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 or 2.66GHz Core i7 processor. The AEC-6635 supports up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, offers DVI-D, VGA and DisplayPort video ports, and provides CompactFlash, SATA, gigabit Ethernet, USB2.0, serial, plus PCI Mini Card connections.
The AEC-6635 follows a long line of Aaeon industrial computers, including this year's Intel Celeron P4500 equipped AEC-6625, which offered a very similar design and feature set. Like the recent Aaeon AIS-Q572 and AIS-Q574 controllers, the AEC-6635 incorporates the 2010 generation of Intel Core computers.
Specifically, the computer is available with either a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 or 2.66GHz Core i7 processor, both accompanied by an Intel QM57 chipset, says the company. With either processor, the computer consumes a fairly modest 35 Watts, claims the company.

The 8.35 x 6.22 x 2.52-inch box is ribbed with heat sinks and supports fanless operation of -4 to 122 deg. F (capable of being extended to 131 degrees with air flow). Shock and vibration resistance are also provided (see spec list below).
The AEC-6635 supports a variety of operating systems, including Linux (Fedora 2.4), as well as Windows CE 6.0, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, and Windows 7, says Aaeon.
