Comark Corp. has introduced a pair of sealed, stainless-steel PC-compatible computers that run Linux. The EnduraTouch 1500FX and 1700FX are intended for operation in processing plants or pharmaceutical clean-rooms, where humidity, extreme temperatures, and even caustic wash-downs may be encountered, according to the… company.

The EnduraTouch 1500FX and 1700FX have identical dimensions and specifications, except that the former has a 15-inch active-matrix touchscreen display, and the latter provides a 17-inch touchscreen display. Maximum resolution on the 15-inch screen is 1024 x 768, while the 17-inch unit can display 1280 x 1024 pixels.

The EnduraTouch's case can be opened for access to internal components

Both systems feature fanless cooling, and they're housed in a gasket-sealed case that also has sealed I/O ports. A front-access feature allows the cases to be opened, much like a suitcase, for easy access to internal components, according to the company.

Those components include the purchaser's choice of 1.6GHz Celeron M, or 1.6 or 1.8GHz Pentium M processors. Memory can be up to 1GB of RAM, Comark says.
