Feb 19, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

(PR excerpt) — LSI Logic Corp. today announced the availability of a complete Linux-based ADSL Ethernet reference design for developers of customer premises equipment (CPE). Building on its HomeBASE family of xDSL gateway products, LSI Logic has combined its proven ARM922-based HomeBASE chipset with a royalty-free Linux operating system to provide a reference design which offers a complete,… cost-effective solution that reduces development time and allows for product differentiation.

Requiring only 2MB FLASH memory and 8 MB SDRAM for further cost efficiency, LSI Logic's complete Linux-based software solution includes Ethernet routing, bridging, network address translation (NAT), Firewall, Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). To support multiple product configurations, the software solution includes device drivers for a variety of external interfaces including Segmentation and Reassembly (SAR), Discrete Multitone (DMT) and 10/100 Ethernet and is flexible enough to address emerging high performance Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) applications.
