LynuxWorks to announce Eclipse-based embedded Linux dev tools
Mar 15, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsLynuxWorks will unveil Eclipse-based tools for embedded Linux development at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) next week in San Francisco. The company will also demonstrate Linux-based point-of-sale technology developed for a gas station and convenience store, and other embedded Linux technologies.
In January, we interviewed LynuxWorks CEO Inder Singh, who said the company was impressed with Eclipse's Java support, and evolving support for C and C++ development. Singh added that LynuxWorks was working on an Eclipse-based tool that it planned to introduce soon.
LynuxWorks competitors TimeSys, MontaVista, QNX, and Wind River have also adopted the Eclipse platform for cross-vendor tools integration.
LynuxWorks says its Eclipse-based tool will support Linux and Solaris-based development environments, and target Linux and LynxOS based applications and devices that exhibit real-time behavior.
Additionally, LynuxWorks will showcase an integrated point-of-sale (POS) system based on BlueCat Linux implemented for a new customer in the “highly competitive petroleum/convenience store market.” The company will also demo MPEG-4 CODEC technology, and a digital jukebox, at ESC.
