O'Reilly will hold its first “Radar” conference on Tuesday, July 25th, with the goal of offering a limited number of well-heeled attendees access to key innovators expected to have an impact on the open source software world — particularly with regard to business models — in the year ahead.

The Radar conference is organized by tech media mogul Tim O'Reilly and by Matt Asay, who founded the Open Source Business Conference. The conference targets venture capitalists and executives, O'Reilly says.

Four major conference themes include:

• Web 2.0
• asymmetric competition
• open source challenges of software as a service
• open data

Featured conference participants include Jeremy Zawodny of Yahoo, Bill Hilf of Microsoft, David Skok of Matrix Partners, Brian Behlendorf of CollabNet, Chris DiBona of Google, Irwin Gross of Worldview Technology Partners, and Marten Mickos of MySQL AB.
