New ColdFire-based SBC carries Linux into new markets

The ESP-1 computer is the common platform for a family of proprietary data storage products targeting significant new market niches, such as data systems for military… reconnaissance and surveillance, commercial flight recorder systems, telecom data storage, and specialized storage applications requiring Internet communications. The ESP-1 combines the processing power of Motorola's latest ColdFire CPU with the programmable circuitry of Xilinx VIRTEX Large Field Programmable Gate Array and the flexibility of an open Linux-based operating system. The ESP-1 also offers several industry-standard interface options such as Fibre-Channel, Gigabit Ethernet and advanced SCSI.
Current Arraid projects utilizing ESP-1 technology include radar system data collection for the U.S. Air Force; high performance shipboard storage devices for the U.S. Navy; and telephone company storage sub-systems for billing data collection with Internet communication capability.
