New embedded communications processor supports Linux

The new RC32336 processor — which is based on a 180MHz 32-bit MIPS architecture CPU core and includes an SDRAM memory controller, dual Ethernet MACs, serial and digital I/O, and a PCMCIA interface — is aimed at wireless gateway and wireless access point applications, IDT said. IDT supports the Interprise family with its own embedded Linux OS and tools, as well as with third-party software and tools for embedded Linux based device designs (see related stories, below).
