Mar 25, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

Witnet announced development of “ModaPhone,” a wireless VoIP solution which enables phone calls from wireless devices via the Internet. According to Witnet, the new software supports several wireless standards including 802.11, GPRS, and CDMA, and enables VoIP calls to other computers and wireless devices running the ModaPhone software, as well as calls to cell phones.

Witnet said its ModaPhone software will run on devices running Linux, as well as Windows CE and other (unspecified) embedded operating systems. It will be supported by SIP Client Toolkits that provide a SIP software stack and Server Toolkit for gateways and servers that conform to IETF standard RFC 3261, the company added.
