Opinion: The development process for the ELCPS

Recently, new attacks on the ELC's Platform Standard efforts have become rather public. Criticism has come from Karim Yaghmour in his new book, Building Embedded Linux Systems, and in his article on oreillynet, and in the subsequent talk-back on linuxdevices.com by “Dwight”.

All of these attacks seem to boil down to the single complaint that the process for developing the specification was insufficiently “open”. I wish to address this. I am an active member of the ELC's Platform Standard Working Group and participated throughout the development of the ELC Platform Standard (ELCPS).
