Real-time Linux Workshop in Vienna, AUSTRIA

Nov 7, 1999 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 views

If you are a researcher, kernel developer, application developer, or just interested in real-time (aka realtime, aka real time) Linux, this workshop in at the Vienna University of Technology in Vienna, AUSTRIA is for you!

There are a great many companies, organizations, and individuals throughout the world who are working on modifications and extensions to the Linux kernel to support real-time and hard-real-time operation. According to the event's organizer, Peter Wurmsdobler, “With all these parallel activities, there is the obvious risk that fragmentation in different variants might result in negative feedback from the market.” “It was therefore felt that an international workshop could yield important benefits by bringing together developers of real-time Linux solutions for face-to-face meetings and discussions,” continues Wurmsdobler.

The Real Time Linux Workshop will feature presentations about actual applications using real-time and hard-real-time Linux. There will also be a discussion about a general application interface (API) for real-time Linux that would allow independence of the hardware platform with the result being a totally free, open source, and portable hard-real-time operating system.

A draft Workshop agenda is available for review and comment at the workshop's web page, at www.thinkingnerds.com/projects/rtl-ws/rtl-ws.html. Or, you can email Peter Wurmsdobler at [email protected].
