Remote monitoring platform runs Linux

Dexdyne is shipping a starter kit for its Linux-based system for remote access to industrial plants and equipment over the Internet, using wireless communications such as GPRS. The Netrix starter kit includes everything needed to write a trial Netrix application except a PC, the company says.

Dexdyne claims that Netrix is simpler and less expensive than traditional methods of telemetry and remote monitoring. It says the technology can be used by water utilities, renewable energy generation plants, facilities management, operations management, service and maintenance, asset management, and in supply chain management.

Although primarily intended for evaluation purposes, the Netrix controller included in the kit is full specification and so the kit may also be used to develop real applications.

Bharat Gupta, managing director of Dexdyne, said, “Providing the opportunity to test drive the system underlines our confidence in its benefits to users.”
