TimeSys has signed up four new ASSPs (authorized support and service partners) for its subscription-based service package for embedded Linux developers. The new LinuxLink ASSPs will provide native-language sales and support, and value-added services, in France, Israel, Greece, Turkey, India, and Southeast Asia, TimeSys says.

Joining TimeSys's ASSP program are:

• AC6 in France
• Fabiotec in Israel, Greece, and Turkey
• Shresta, in India
• Weslab in Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

TimeSys products have also been sold and supported in Japan by Nissin Systems for about five years, it says. Nissin, a VAR (value-added reseller) that also supports Qtopia, will continue to serve as TimeSys's ASSP for Japan. Nissin also made an equity investment in TimeSys in 2002.

TimeSys CEO Larry Weidman states, “LinuxLink has resonated strongly with developers worldwide. We are teaming with best-of-class organizations to provide the highest level of local support to international customers.”

TimeSys launched LinuxLink last August, touting it as a one-stop shop for embedded developers creating and maintaining their own distributions. LinuxLink subscriptions include access to the latest chip-specific kernel patches, verified binaries of popular embedded applications cross-compiled for a variety of architectures, and access to a Developer Exchange interactive support forum staffed by TimeSys and its partners, including semiconductor vendors and ASSPs, according to the company.
