Axiomtek has released a high-end embedded computer designed for automation, digital signage, and in-vehicle use. The fanless, Linux-compatible eBox630-821-FL offers dual gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB ports, four COM ports, and high-end graphics and video, says Axiomtek.

The eBox630-821-FL offers faster processing than Axiomtek's EPIC-based eBox600-FL announced last November. It can accept a Socket 478 Intel Pentium M clocked at up to 2GHz, with slower and lower-powered CPUs also available. Users can choose DVI or VGA for the back-panel graphics interface, with a second front-panel DVI display port also optionally available.

The 11 x 5.9 x 2.7-inch computer is housed in an industrial-grade aluminum and heavy-steel case and is designed to operate in harsh environments. The case has a 2.5-inch (laptop-sized) hard drive bay. With a drive installed, the system supports up to 1Grms (root mean square), or 2Grms without. It can sustain operating temperatures of 32 to 122 degrees F, says the company
