Sharp Zaurus SL-C700 to debut in US soon, courtesy of Dynamism
Dec 5, 2002 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsNVMAX reports that Dynamism Inc. is teaming up with the Open Source community to bring the Sharp Zaurus SL-C700 to America and elsewhere outside of the Japanese market. This is the 400MHz XScale-based clam-shell PDA with a 640×480 screen and mini-notebook-style keyboard that Sharp recently introduced in Japan.
According to Dynamism's Zaurus SL-C700 webpage . . .
The new Sharp Zaurus SL-C700 is this year's coolest PDA. (And yes, it's the one that Sharp had on display at Comdex!)
Its innovative swiveling screen transforms the shape from PDA-style to laptop-style. (The SL-C700 is fully-functional either way.) Once in laptop-style, you can utilize the QWERTY keyboard, with its great tactile feedback. The full VGA (640×480) screen is fantastic: bright and razor sharp. A LINUX-based OS is powered by Intel's XScale (PXA250 400mhz) processor. The SL-C700 includes 64mb flash RAM, which is expandable through the CF slot.
The Sharp Zaurus SL-C700 is currently slated for release only in Japan, but is available worldwide from Dynamism. Each Sharp Zaurus SL-C700 purchased through Dynamism includes an English-language OS and 1-year warranty. We expect delivery in mid-December, and initial quantities are limited. For earliest delivery, please call your sales representative to pre-order. (800-711-6277).
