Creator Wei Yongming has updated his technical introduction to MiniGUI, following its 2.0 release. MiniGUI 2.0 is a suitable alternative to Qtopia or MicroWindows in high-end embedded Linux devices, Wei says, while continuing to offer build options for resource-constrained and real-time systems.

MiniGUI is available commercially from Beijing Feynman Software, a private company in China founded by Yongming and other developers about three years ago. Older versions are also available under the GNU GPL open source license.

Yongming's article presents background on MiniGUI, its features, what's involved in porting MiniGUI to a device, a simple coding example, and descriptions of the various ways MiniGUI can be built to support different requirements, architectures, and operating systems (which include uClinux and eCos, as well as Linux).
