USB framework for Linux adds ‘Bulverde’ driver
Apr 21, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsBelcarra Technologies has added drivers for Intel's latest XScale chip to its Linux USB Framework 2.0, software for device designers that supports eight target platforms. The new Belcarra driver supports Intel's PXA 27x, or 'Bulverde' processor, a power-conserving chip based on ARM technology and targeting multimedia-enabled mobile devices.
Belcarra says its new driver will enable OEMs to take full advantage of the “rich and powerful” USB subsystem in Intel's PXA 27x ('Bulverde') chips.
Belcarra offers “end-to-end” USB software that includes host software based on its USBLAN technology and target drivers that are GPL-licensed. Its technology supports USB Forum standards, as well as Microsoft's RNDIS, to work with all host OSes.
Belcarra's USB Framework 2.0 supports the following targets:
- AMD AU1X00 (AU1100, AU1500)
- Hitachi Superh 7727
- Intel PXA (210, 250, 255)
- Intel StrongArm – sa1100
- Motorola MX1
- SharpSec lh7a400
- ScanLogic -SL11
- Samsung – smdk2500
In addition to its USB Framework software, Belcarra offers professional services and systems integration expertise. "Belcarra's USB solutions are distinguished from others by being end-to-end, battle hardened, and by including integration support,” said Bruce Balden, President.
Belcarra's USB Framework was recently adopted by Motorola for use in its Linux-based mobile phones.
