Was the Aplio Pro the 1st true embedded Linux appliance?

Apr 12, 2000 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 3 views

Philip Trauring writes, on the LinuxDevices.com Embedded Linux Forum . . .

“The Aplio Pro is an Internet telephony appliance that you can plug into an ethernet network and into a standard analog telephone and then allows you to make phone calls over the Internet to any other Aplio device or standard Internet telephony client (H.323). It shipped back in September 1999. Not that long ago, but I can't find any other commercial shrinkwrapper product that shipped before it and I was wondering if anyone knew of any? I would discount a product such as the Tivo box, which does run Linux, but which also has a hard drive and is basically a full computer.”
