New XScale chips target faster, smaller, lighter PDAs

Intel announced three new processors targeting PDAs, all based on the company's popular XScale processor architecture. Agilent focuses tiny camera modules on mobile devices

Agilent has introduced a family of miniature camera modules for mobile phones and wireless PDAs. The modules are said to provide a complete imaging solution, including high image quality CIF or VGA resolution CMOS image sensors, tightly integrated image processor, embedded power supply, and high-quality lens. Global broadband market to break $4 billion by 2006

Market research firm Forward Concepts announced the release of a report on the worldwide broadband market, including DSL and cable modem technologies. The report, which is based on data collected from over 50 countries, predicts total subscriber growth, subscriber revenues, equipment revenues, and semiconductor revenues through 2006. (more…)

uClinux ported to Motorola ColdFire MCF5282

SnapGear reports that they have recently completed porting uClinux to the Motorola ColdFire MCF5282 processor, after working closely with Motorola to complete the port. The MCF5282 port is based around the uClinux patches to the 2.4 Linux kernel. (more…)

Sharp publishes SL-5500 vs. SL-5600 comparison whitepaper
