An update from the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC) on the first meeting of the Embedded Linux Platform Specification Core Working Group . . .

The first meeting of the Embedded Linux Platform Specification Core Working Group took place on Friday, April 19, 2002. Mark Brown (IBM) and Mitch Bunnell (LynuxWorks) were elected Chair and Vice Chair, respectively. The group set June 13th, 2002 for an all-day in-person meeting at IBM facilities in Austin, Texas. Weekly teleconferences are also being scheduled to help accelerate the work. A lively discussion on Requirements ensued, in an effort to move swiftly on key elements of the specification.

A Majordomo mail list and password-protected FTP site are being set up to aid discussions and document distribution. Participants are members who have signed the ELC's Intellectual Property Agreement (IPA). All members are welcome to participate, but a signed IPA is needed. The 9-page IPA is a contract that provides ample cross protection for vendors and individuals who plan to engage in specification development under ELC auspices.
