San Clemente, CA — (press release) — the RTC Group announced its third Embedded Linux Expo & Conference (ELEC) scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 27 in San Jose, CA. With the standing-room-only success last year in San Jose and Boston, the 2001 events promise continued attention from the industry.

John Reardon, president of The RTC Group said, “The high level of enthusiasm in the Embedded Linux event has far exceeded our expectations. We are excited about bringing this event to San Jose, as well as making an east coast stop in Boston this coming October. We have also expanded the conference portion of the event to two days to meet demand.” The RTC Group is proud to announce Kevin Dankwardt, PhD., of K Computing as the Technical Chairman. Kevin brings to this role 15 years of experience in the computing industry, with the last five years focused on Linux technical training and development.

The Embedded Linux Expo & Conference (ELEC) is the world's first expo and conference to exclusively target the popular open-source Linux operating system in embedded applications. The ELEC event will feature two full days of technical presentations by CEOs, CTOs, and senior technical experts from leading embedded Linux companies speaking on issues and challenges associated with integrating Linux and Linux-related technologies into embedded system applications. In addition, major suppliers of technologies and products useful to developers of Linux-based embedded systems will participate in the Expo portion of the event scheduled for Tuesday, June 26.

The ELEC event is designed for engineers, project managers, and design teams that are developing a broad range of embedded systems incorporating the Linux operating system and related technologies. Typical applications span from moderate to high performance fixed and mobile computing needs, and include: smart appliances, gaming, set-top boxes, medical equipment, defense/aerospace systems, industrial control/automation, transportation systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition.

The two-day technical conference is $159 in advance and $175 at the door. The Expo portion of ELEC is open to the public free of charge.
