Zaltbommel, Netherlands — (press release excerpt) — ACTIVE Exhibitions Europe today announced the call for papers for its first Embedded Linux Expo & Conference Europe (ELEC) scheduled for Monday November 26th to Thursday November 29th, 2001. The event is scheduled to take place in Milan, Italy.

With a very successful year in 2000, the Embedded Linux Expo & Conference comes to Europe and is adding a day of conferences to meet demand. Beside the Embedded Linux track an additional track dedicated to Real-Time Linux is introduced in close cooperation with the Real-Time Linux Foundation” continued Hunor.

Introduced in 1999 in the USA the conference has taken on an international focus with last year's ELEC events pulling from over 12 countries and every major market in the U.S.

• Focus on technology not products — For our sessions attendees expect a high technical focus and are critical of speakers who cross into product promotion. Please ensure that. We are looking for presentations by expert instructors on concise topics, case studies, ?tips & tricks? or research based.

• Selection Criteria — Presentations are selected based on content, originality, quality and timeliness. Presentations should offer immediate technical value to the attendees and assist in better understanding issues, challenges, processes,
  and techniques that can be used to successfully and rapidly develop Linux-based embedded systems.
  We do not accept canned topics. Each session must be one-of-a-kind and intended to inform and not sell.

• Prove your hands on experience — We are choosing potential speakers who have used a particular technology and can comment on what works and what does not based on first hand experience.

• Be creative and choose an interesting subject — Aim your subject at a wide audience. Be creative but careful as sessions on very niche and obscure matters are less likely to be selected.

• Neutral positioning — We strive for neutral, unbiased and balanced sessions that join the best sources in the industry to present on a
  specific topic.

• Include your competitors — Proposals that suggest speakers from your competition along with your own presentation generate lively debate sessions loved by the audience. The audience learns the most when confronted with opposing positions on a subject.

• Look at current and future trends — Our audience is deeply interested in finding out the present and future trends in the industry. Any original position that you may have regarding the present and the future will contribute to the enlightening of our audience.

• Presentation — Presentation time slots are 45 minutes out of which 30 minutes are for your presentation and 15 minutes are for questions.

• Format — Please submit abstracts and proposals in plain ASCII text, RTF or in Word format.
  Final presentations should be submitted in HTML format for direct publication. Any other format that may be submitted may be altered during conversion into HTML.

• How to submit — Please provide your abstract to our Logistics Manager, Jasper Muilman. He will collect all abstract proposals and send them out to our Program Committee.

• Review process — Received proposals will be reviewed by the members of the Program Committee. Accepted authors will be notified by email. Authors of any papers not accepted will also be notified.

• Publication — The conference requires publication rights to the accepted papers including the publication and reproduction rights of any video or audio taken during the presentations. Copyright ownership is retained by the author. These rights are non-exclusive.

The Embedded Linux Expo & Conference Europe (ELEC) is the world's first expo and conference to exclusively target the popular open-source Linux operating system in embedded applications. The ELEC event will feature two full days of technical presentations by CEOs, CTOs, and senior technical experts from leading embedded Linux companies. Speakers will address issues and challenges associated with integrating Linux and Linux-related technologies into embedded system applications.
