The Embedded Systems Conference (ESC), scheduled for April 2007 in San Jose, Calif., has extended the deadline for submitting abstracts of proposed technical sessions. The new deadline is September 8. Proposals are sought for 90-minute and 3-hour classes, and full-day tutorials.

The conference intends to accept more new classes into the technical program and fewer repeat and updated classes. “Audience feedback and some recent concentrated time with focus groups tells us that we need to include more new material,” said Ardis Gough, senior conference manager. Also, for the first time, ESC is accepting presentations of case studies that detail “how and why you and your team developed your product the way you did.”

Proposed topics should appeal to a broad range of attendees, and stress processes and methodologies rather than products. “How-to” classes with practical information that can be immediately put to use are encouraged. The conference is not interested in marketing pitches, according to the call for abstracts.
