Examining Main Memory Databases [iApplianceWeb]

iApplianceWeb has published an article describing a Linux-based benchmark of different approaches to real-time, memory-resident data management. The article, written by Steve Graves, CEO of McObject, compares the performance of a 'traditional' database deployed on RAM-disk with that of main memory database (MMDB) technology designed for memory-only use. Sources of database processing overhead are discussed.
