Empower Technologies is shipping a Linux-based development package supporting the Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP5910 dual-core processor. The LDK5910 includes a hardware development board based on the TI OMAP5910 along with Empower's “LEOs” Linux OS and toolchain, and enables developers to begin writing OMAP-based applications within one hour of setup, according to the company.

TI's OMAP5910 dual-core processor integrates an ARM925 core along with a TI TMS320C55x DSP (digital signal processor). In addition to the OMAP5910 processor, the LDK5910 also includes:

  • Interface display module and NEC QVGA (320 x 240) 16-bit TFT LCD
  • LAN/expansion module with USB host and client ports, 10baseT Ethernet, and HP logic analyzer debugging port
  • I2S AIC 23 power amplifier, speaker, headphones, and microphone connections
  • LEOs runtime and development kit

The LDK5910 is shipping now, priced at US$900, according to Empower.

Empower joined TI's DSP third-party network in December of 2004.
