VersaLogic is shipping a low-power PC/104-Plus single-board computer (SBC) based on an AMD Elan SC520 system-on-chip (SoC) processor. The Lynx SBC supports Linux, and is aimed at headless (no monitor, keyboard, or mouse) embedded applications in monitoring, control, and communications equipment.

In addition to the AMD Elan SC520 processor, the SBC includes 64 MB of soldered-on SDRAM, an Ethernet LAN interface, hard and floppy drive controllers, and various serial and parallel ports. According to Versalogic, the Lynx SBC requires less than 5W total power. Additionally, the board includes a customizable, field-upgradeable, “OEM-enhanced” BIOS, and it supports Linux, Windows CE, VxWorks, QNX, and other embedded OSes, Versalogic says.

The company lists the following key features and specifications for the Lynx SBC:

• Display controller — none onboard; available via PC/104 or PC/104-Plus add-on modules

Availability

The Lynx SBC is currently available from stock, priced at $399 in “OEM quantities,” according to Versalogic.
