Jungo Software has updated its development kits for cross-platform, user-space PCI/USB host and device drivers. WinDriver USB/PCI 8.02 adds support for Linux 2.6.14 through 2.6.16 kernels and Windows Mobile 5.0, along with various enhancements and bug fixes.

Jungo says its WinDriver tools allow developers with no Linux kernel experience to create high-performance, high-quality device drivers that run in user mode. The WinDriver tools support a variety of UHCI, OHCI, or EHCI host controllers, and operating systems that, in addition to Linux and Windows Mobile, include Windows CE, Solaris, VxWorks, Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP, and Windows XP Embedded. They can be used to build USB, PCI, PCI Express, CardBus, CompactPCI, ISA, PMC, PCI-X, PCI-104, and PCMCIA drivers, the company says.

Additional new features in the 8.02 release include:

• Support for Silicon Laboratories's C8041F340 development board
• The maximum contiguous DMA buffer size is no longer restricted to 128KB in the Linux PCI driver
• Fixed locking of unaligned scatter-gather DMA buffers on Linux

Jungo added Linux support to its WinDriver kit in 2003, with the release of version 6.0. It launched version 7.0 last summer.
