Low-cost, extended temp PC/104 SBC supports Linux

WinSystems has introduced a PC/104 SBC (single board computer) based on the low power, high-integration AMD SC520 SoC. The PCM-SC520 supports Linux, and targets space- and power-limited embedded designs requiring an extended temperature range of -40 degrees to +85 degrees C, according to the company.
The PCM-SC520 is based on a 32-bit low-voltage AMD Elan SC520 SoC, which has an AM5x86 core clocked at 133MHz. The board has a complete set of integrated PC/AT peripherals, according to WinSystems. It can operate as a standalone SBC, or in conjunction with user-designed or off-the-shelf PC/104 expansion modules, which are available in thousands of variations from hundreds of vendors, according to the company.
The PCM-SC520 supports from 32 to 256 MB of SDRAM in a standard SODIMM socket, but it can also be ordered with up to 32 MB of soldered-down SDRAM for high shock and vibration applications. Up to 1 GB of solid state disk (SSD) storage is available, either as CompactFlash or M-Systems DiskOnChip.
Peripheral ports include 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, four serial, bi-directional parallel, floppy, IDE, keyboard, mouse ports. The company says the device requires only +5V and draws 900 mA (typical) with 128MB of SDRAM memory installed.
Price and Delivery
List price for the PCM-SC520-0 is $399, according to WinSystems. Delivery is from stock to three weeks.
