Phoenix Contact announced a miniature embedded box PC that uses Intel's Atom Z510PT and can operate fanlessly in temperatures from -40 to 149 deg. F. The VL BPC Mini features up to 2GB of RAM, CompactFlash storage, two gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, a serial port (RS232/422/485), an SD slot, and a VGA output, the company says.

The VL BPC Mini employs the 1.1GHz Atom Z510PT (and, we assume, the associated SCH US15WPT northbridge/southbridge), a CPU that features an integrated heat spreader and is rated by Intel for operation in temperatures as high as 185 deg. F. According to Phoenix Contact, its miniature embedded PC works fanlessly up to 149 deg. F.

Designed for mounting on a wall or DIN rail, the VL BPC Mini accepts up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, its manufacturer says. Fixed storage, meanwhile, is provided by a CompactFlash slot that accepts up to 8GB of memory and an SD slot that accepts up to 2GB, Phoenix Contact adds.

What you see at right is what you get in the way of ports: two gigabit Ethernet connectors, six USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output (potential resolutions not specified), and a serial port (RS232/422/485 selectable). The VL BPC Mini's power input is designed to accept 24VDC, according to Phoenix Contact.
