Taiwanese board vendor Avalue has introduced a mini-ITX board with an ultra-low-power AMD Geode processor, and supported by guaranteed three- to five-year lifecycle availability. The EMB-9655 features analog, digital, and LVDS display interfaces, runs Linux, and targets POS (point-of-sales) and thin client… applications.

The EMB-9655 is based on an AMD Geode [email protected] or [email protected] processor, an x86-compatible processor with 128KB of L2 cache. The board also uses AMD's CS5536 companion chip, which integrates north- and south-bridge functions into a single chip. Additionally, a Winbond W82637HG-AW super I/O chip is used.

The EMB-9655 comes with an Award BIOS in 512KB of Flash. A single DIMM slot supports up to 1GB of DDR 266/333 SDRAM.

The board has a backpanel VGA port supporting CRTs up to 1920 x 1440 @ 32 bpp (85 Hz). Additionally, surface-mount connectors support a 18/24-bit TFTs or an LVDS (low-voltage differential signal) LCD module. Dual displays are supported, as long as one display uses the analog port. The graphics system can be configured to borrow between 8MB and 254MB of main system memory.
