Pentium M SBC dev-kit boasts Fedora Linux on CF

The kit bundles the Apollo SBC along with a processor, memory, power supply, I/O and power cables, and Fedora Core 3 Linux pre-installed on a 1GB CompactFlash card. A 15-inch TFT LCD with analog touchscreen is offered as an option.

The EBX form-factor Apollo SBC supports a range of mobile Intel Celeron M and Pentium M processors and is based on Intel's 855GME chipset. The SBC targets multi-screen gaming displays, high-security systems, optical inspection, low profile fanless servers, and compact machine controllers.

Key features of the Apollo SBC, as supplied in the new Linux hardware/software development kit, include:
- 1.6GHz Pentium M CPU
- 512MB DDR memory
- CRT and LVDS LCD video output
- Dual Ethernet with gigabit option on one channel
- Six USB 2.0 channels
- Four serial ports (RS-232/RS-422/RS-485)
- Dual FireWire (IEEE 1394a) ports

The Fedora Core 3 Linux distribution that is included in the development kit is based on the 2.6 kernel. It includes over 15 device drivers that support the board's onboard functions and interfaces, according to Arcom. A detailed list of drivers appears here.
Arcom says its team of Linux developers located in Kansas City (US) and Cambridge (UK) is available to provide optimized implementations of embedded Linux for customer-specific requirements.
