Fremont, CA — (press release excerpt) — Insignia Solutions announced today that Pioneer Research Center USA, Inc. (PRA) has licensed Insignia's Jeode virtual machine technologies, including source code, to integrate into a new interactive digital television platform that PRA is currently developing. The new platform uses embedded Linux and will include a custom high performance Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

Insignia's Jeode technology enables Pioneer to meet the Advanced Television Systems Committee Digital TV Application Software Environment (ATSC-DASE) and Digital Video Broadcast Multimedia Home Platform (DVB-MHP) specifications, both which require a Java software component.
