Cowboy Industries (Lewisville, TX) has created what might represent the world's first PowerPC-based single-board computers (SBCs) on the PC/104-Plus embedded computer form-factor. The company offers two variants of the new SBC, called the MORGAN and the SHIRE, based on Motorola's MPC750 and MPC7400 CPUs, respectively. Both SBCs will be supported under embedded Linux.

The compact SBCs each match the 3.5 x 3.7 inch PC/104-Plus footprint and support the combination of ISA and PCI bus expansion using the robust PC/104-Plus pin-and-socket connectors. Each of the SBC modules can be equipped with up to 128MB of SODIMM RAM plus 4MB of Flash memory. Other onboard features include an RS232 serial port, IEEE 1149.1 JTAG, COP, watchpoint monitor, interrupt and DMA controllers, I2O, I2C, and Advanced Power Management support.
