Report from Advanced Embedded Linux Tutorial
Jun 29, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsKevin Dankwardt of K Computing sent us the following report on the recent advanced Embedded Linux Tutorial which was held the day following the Embedded Linux Expo and Conference . . .
K Computing's Advanced Embedded Linux Tutorial presented in conjunction with the Embedded Linux Expo & Conference in San Jose was a great success and proved to be fun! The fast-paced tutorial was the first of its kind — covering a wide range of topics in a vendor neutral format. The Tutorial covered such topics as cross development, developing device drivers, booting, the use of Flash memory technologies, windowing systems such as MicroWindows & QT Embedded, and special filesystems such as CRAMFS and ROMFS. The Tutorial included various demonstrations of the techniques by making use of an Agenda VR3 PDA (which uses a MIPS-based processor) and an RPXLite (which uses a PowerPC) as demonstration targets. During the Tutorial a lucky participant won an Agenda VR3, provided courtesy of Agenda Computing.
